Volunteering with 40K

40K has the following volunteer positions currently available.

Fundraising Event Procurer (three positions available)

40K runs a number of fundraising events throughout the year. The largest of these is the Annual Ball – The 40K Home Foundation Big Night Out. This is a major aspect of 40K’s fundraising programmes with money being raised primarily from the quality auction and raffle items procured. In addition a number of other smaller events and promotions occur throughout the year for which we also require good quality prizes.

We need some new volunteers to work as a team to procure all necessary prizes. Each role will require 4 hours a week during the working day in order to fulfil the necessary role requirements.

Major aspects of role:

- Brainstorming ideas for original and high quality prizes that will most appeal to the 40K guest demographic at each event.

- Ensuring that the ‘prize box’ is always well stocked and ready for all upcoming promotions and events.

- Contacting potential prize donors in order to secure good quality prizes free of charge.

- Ensuring that all agreements made with donors (eg. Brand promotion) are recorded accurately and are carried out correctly.

- Ensure that all contacts are thanked appropriately and that the relationship is maintained for future use.

Skills required:

- Excellent verbal and written communication.

- A confident telephone manner.

- Creativity, excellent administration and time management skills, persistence.

- Experience in events fundraising/auction administration would be a plus.

Fundraising Research Assistant (one position)

40K is extending its fundraising activities into major donor activation and grant applications due to the recent approval of DGR status.

This research based role will require 4 hours a week which can be flexible. The successful applicant can either work from home or from the 40K office.

Major aspects of role:

- Major donor research – research and collating a database of ‘high net worth individuals’ who can be contacted as part of the Major Donor programme.

- Corporate Foundation research - Due to 40K’s newly registered DGR status we are now eligible for a number of foundations’ grants. Research and collating information into what we can apply for and how to go about this. It may also include some degree of involvement in the application process.

Skills required:

- Experience or knowledge of the fundraising sector would be looked on favourably.

- Great written and spoken communications skills

- Excellent administration and data entry skills

- Good attention to detail and time management skills.

Office and Jukebox administrator (two positions available)

40K is a growing organisation that needs a regular volunteer to take on a variety of administration and customer service roles. A flexible nature is a must as this role would change depending on the office needs.

Major aspects of this role:

- Database management – entering in new leads and contacts into the 40K database accurately and in a timely fashion.

- Working with the Jukebox (40K’s regular giving programme) team to ensure all administrational tasks related to the program are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.

- Customer Service Calls – at 40K we regularly contact our supporters to get their feedback, and maintain our pillar of interactivity. This involves regularly calling a section of our database to discuss 40K’s work.

- Other ad hoc administrative work as business demands.

Skills required:

- A confident telephone manner and an ability to engage with supporters on the phone.

- Fantastic customer service skills.

- Excellent organisational and administrational ability.

- Flexibility and initiative.

Researchers (10 positions available)

The research arm of the 40K Home Foundation, the Research Institute, requires a number of volunteers to join its growing team. The current research initiative is an investigation into the lives of granite quarry workers in Bangalore, India, the parents of whose children 40K will be servicing with our new 4 storey eco-shelter and community learning centre.

This is a volunteer position that will require a minimum of a 4 hour commitment, per week, during office hours.

Major aspects of this role

- There is a high degree of flexibility in regards to what Research Institute project volunteers can work on. Volunteers can research issue areas ranging from international law and human rights through to economics and sociology.

- Volunteers will be required to work with creativity, independence and initiative. They will be required to take an issue area from its conception, research it and then complete a report capable of publication.

- Volunteers will be required to edit the work of other volunteer researchers as well as provide background support to the 40K Home Foundation.

- Ability to research.

- Excellent oral and written communications skills.

- Flexibility and initiative.

- Ability to work in a team.
